Where holistic development is key...
Counselling
Our school offers counselling support to assist learners with their emotional well-being, personal growth, and everyday life challenges. Counselling is a collaborative process where a trained professional helps learners explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
Through evidence-based psychological techniques, counselling helps learners better understand themselves, identify the root causes of difficulties, and develop healthy coping strategies and practical solutions. Counselling can benefit anyone experiencing emotional distress, overwhelming emotions, grief and loss, trauma, low self-esteem, behavioural changes, or major life transitions.
While counselling may sometimes involve discussing difficult emotions or experiences, which can temporarily feel uncomfortable, the long-term benefits are significant. These may include improved self-esteem, healthier relationships, better emotional regulation, problem-solving skills, and greater overall well-being.
Confidentiality is an important part of the counselling relationship and helps create trust between the learner and the counsellor. Parents or guardians may be included in certain sessions with the learner’s permission, and general feedback, support, and recommendations may be shared where appropriate. The counselling process and confidentiality guidelines will always be explained clearly during the initial session to ensure understanding and comfort for both learners and parents.
Our goal is to provide compassionate support that empowers learners to navigate challenges, build resilience, and thrive both emotionally and academically.
Educational Psycholgist
Our school is privileged to have the support of an Educational Psychologist who attends to learners on a weekly basis. The Educational Psychologist provides specialised assessment and support for learners who may experience learning or developmental barriers that affect their academic progress, behaviour, emotional well-being, or overall development.
By considering the psychological, emotional, social, and educational factors influencing a learner’s functioning, the Educational Psychologist is able to identify areas where additional support may be needed. Specialised psychometric assessments are used to evaluate cognitive abilities, scholastic skills, emotional development, and learning needs.
Assessments may benefit learners who experience learning difficulties, attention deficits, developmental delays, school readiness concerns, emotional or behavioural challenges, or those who may require additional support such as accommodations and/or concessions.
The goal of educational psychological support is to better understand each learner’s individual needs and to provide guidance and recommendations that promote confidence, growth, and academic success. Through early identification and appropriate support, learners are empowered to reach their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment.
